Mini Bulma (Dragon Ball Daima)
Vector Illustration
I had the absolute honor of being commissioned by the incredibly talented Taylor Murphy for this illustration of Mini Bulma from Dragon Ball Daima! Translating her iconic look into this adorable, miniaturized form required careful attention to the series' signature style.
From the initial rough sketch to the final dynamic lighting, the goal was to create a vibrant piece of digital/vector art that captures her adventurous, brilliant spirit. Balancing the nostalgic colors with glowing, modern rendering techniques to achieve that ultimate anime fan art aesthetic was an incredible journey—especially getting to see the final piece turn into a physical, signed metallic print!
Foundation & Digital Inking
The process begins with the initial rough sketch, laying out her confident pose, proportions, and iconic expression , before transitioning into the meticulous, uncolored vector linework that establishes the crisp, classic anime foundation of the piece.
From Standard Render to Final Magic
The progression shifts from presenting the fully shaded standard anime render on the left, demonstrating the base volume and signature highlights before heavy environmental lighting is introduced. This culminates in the final, full-color illustration on the right, featuring Mini Bulma surrounded by glowing Dragon Balls in an intense, atmospheric magenta environment.
The Final Form
A massive highlight of this commission: seeing the artwork come to life as a physical metallic print, beautifully signed by Taylor Murphy!
