With the 2026 World Cup wrapping up, I was commissioned to create a custom, print-ready trading card merging the worlds of football and anime. Since the One Piece story is currently exploring the Elbaf arc, a Norse/Viking crossover with the Norway national team was the perfect fit! Even though Norway didn't take the win this year, Luffy brings maximum Gear 5 energy to the pitch.
Phase 1: Concept & Lineart
Sketching & Inking
Establishing the dynamic action pose—kicking the football while wearing a Viking helmet and the Norway kit—followed by precise, clean lineart.
Phase 2: Base Colors & Rendering
Color Blocking & Form
Applying the base colors for the Norway jersey, the Viking gear, and Luffy's signature Gear 5 awakening clouds, then rendering the shadows to build 3D volume.
Phase 3: Lightning Effects & Background
Atmosphere & Effects
Integrating the high-voltage Haki lightning effects around the character and applying a bold, high-contrast action background to frame the illustration perfectly for a trading card layout.
